Challenges/Needs: At the beginning, the business experienced challenges with lack of access to markets for growth. The business also needed funding for expansion to purchase new machinery and equipment, as well as working capital to cater for overheads. This negatively impacted on their ability to access to new established retail markets where they can sell larger volumes on a regular basis and improve their profitability. Business owners also needed training capacitation to deal with day-to-day management of the operations and administration within the business

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: The business owners approached SEDFA Mangaung branch for assistance. An assessment was conducted, and an action plan was developed. Sedfa assisted the client with branding to facilitate access to markets, furthermore the clients were referred for training to capacitate themselves and were also referred for funding with SEDFA
Outcome Details: The SEDFA intervention assisted the business. The new markets opened for business since they could start doing business with established retailers such SPAR, OBC and Boxer. Business monthly turnover improved from R5,000 p/m to R25,000 p/m on average, and in the process, they employed 2 people sustained 2 jobs
